Why Your Child Needs a Personal Encounter With God
Learn why your children need a personal encounter with God to make their faith real and lasting.
September 22, 2025 | Discipleship | Family
Your kids don’t just need your faith, they need their own encounter with God.
No matter how well you teach your children, model faith, or surround them with the right community, there’s one more thing that will ultimately make the difference in their lives: they need a personal encounter with God.
I can share my faith with my kids, but I cannot have faith for them. At some point, every child has to experience God for themselves. That’s what seals their faith and makes it real. Your kids don’t just need your faith, they need their own encounter with God. So, how do we help make this happen?
Create Space for Encounters
As parents, we can’t force a God encounter, but we can create environments where they are more likely to happen. That’s why we invest in camps, youth nights, kids services, and times of worship.
Every time you get your kids into an atmosphere where the Holy Spirit is moving, you’re giving them another opportunity to encounter God in a life-changing way.
Don’t Give Up Praying
You may be reading this and thinking, my child hasn’t had that encounter yet. Keep praying. Keep bringing them to church. Keep sowing seeds of faith. I believe God is faithful to meet them at the right time and in the right way. There is nothing more powerful than a praying parent.
Final Encouragement
You can’t save your children, but you can point them to the Savior. You can model faith, guide them with wisdom, and create opportunities for them to encounter God. But ultimately, their faith becomes real when they meet Him personally.
And when that happens, it changes everything.
