The goal is not to raise good kids, but to raise Godly kids.
One of the greatest responsibilities God has given us as parents is to raise our children in faith. Raising five children of my own, I know parenting is not easy, — it’s the hardest thing I’ve ever done. But it’s also the most important.
When it comes to raising children, we often get caught up in education, success, sports, or finances. Those things are not bad, but they are not the ultimate goal. The priority for every Christian parent is to instill genuine faith in God in the hearts of our children. The goal is not to raise good kids, but to raise Godly kids.
A Generational Responsibility
The Bible warns us in Judges 2 that after Joshua’s generation passed away, “another generation grew up who knew neither the Lornor what He had done for Israel.” That verse breaks my heart. A whole generation missed out on knowing God because faith wasn’t passed down intentionally.
I don’t want that to be said of us. As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord (Joshua 24:15). And I believe you can make that same decision for your family.
Your Role Matters
You may be a parent, grandparent, foster parent, aunt, uncle, or mentor. Whatever your role, you have an opportunity to influence the next generation. Don’t underestimate the difference you can make in helping a child know God and trust Him with their life.
Final Encouragement
Remember this: raising faith-filled children is not just about rules, discipline, or routines. It’s about showing them a real relationship with Jesus. They don’t just need good advice from you—they need to see genuine faith lived out every single day. Children don't need a motto to say, they need a model to follow.
Let’s commit together to making faith our first priority in parenting.
